About Tiger Sharks

Our team was founded in 2019 by Samantha Little (Coach Little), a Northport FH alumni who shared a passion for the sport.  Coach recognized the scarcity of opportunities available for young aspiring field hockey players and she wanted to create a space for them to develop that is affordable and easily accessible. Since then, we have been offering various training clinics, private lessons, and organizing the FH youth league for the surrounding towns. Our players have achieved great success and the Tiger Shark Brand is growing every year.

    Samantha is the founder of Tiger Sharks. She is currently the JV coach at Northport High School and helped the Northport team win a State Championship Title twice and The Long Island Championship Title 4 times. She has been Coaching FH for 9 years. Coach Little is very knowledgeable in strength training for athletes and helping players of

She has been Coaching FH for 9 years. Coach Little is very knowledgeable in strength training for athletes and helping players of all ages gain confidence in themselves as players. Dedicating many hours to the development of the Field Hockey program for all ages.

    Sophia is an assistant coach at Tiger Sharks. She was the Head JV coach at North Babylon this past season. She is a young coach but has a lot of knowledge to offer. She competed at the collegiate level for four years at SUNY Oneonta. As well as the National level in the U16 division. She has received multiple accolades such as All State, All Region, All Long Island, etc.

    Jess is Tiger Sharks' Goalie Coach. Jess also often works with our youth players. She is an extremely versatile coach who has coached on the college and high school level. She played goalie for William Smith College. With 20 years of coaching experience, she has been passing on her knowledge of the game to all her players. Jess also privately trains with Goalies of all ages.

    Tiger Sharks provides a variety of training clinics during the winter, spring, and summer seasons. These clinics include; skill training, workouts, game-like drills, and scrimmages.  

    We offer trainings to all levels; from beginners to advanced. Each training is grouped by age but players can be moved around based on their skill level; if needed. We offer from grades 1 - 12. The timings and availability of trainings for each level changes each season, depending on the demand and turf access. 


    We offer youth players from grades 3 - 6 only to be a part of a team. Teams are separated by age and our travel teams play in the fall season only, traveling only on Long Island. These teams are coached by parent volunteers and training is enhanced with the help of high school players when available. 

    No problem! We have plenty of sticks that we provide to beginners to borrow during their trial period for the sport. We also have shinguards, goggles, and goalie equipment that we offer to lend out. Please reach out, and we would be happy to accommodate. 

    Yes! This is provided on an inquiry basis. All Coaches offer private trainings, availability is dependent on their personal schedules. If you are looking for individualized coaching, please reach out and we can set something up that works for you! Prices vary depending on age. Small group (2-4 players) also available for private sessions.
